Tanaka closing on deal that will move him to Japan

Masahiro Tanaka, a crafty right-hander who is a former Yankees starter with a lot of postseason experience, is heading to his former team in Japan, the Rakuten Eagles. After a seven year career in the Bronx, he is finally heading over to where he wanted to end his career.

Tanaka, only 32 years old, has been a very reliable starter for the Yankees in his career. He has a career 3.74 ERA and a 3.33 postseason ERA, with a career 78 wins. He has been the go-to guy in big games for the Yankees, turning in a very good performance in almost every postseason game he pitches in.

The Yankees should have many new arms in 2021, including Luis Severino, back from Tommy John surgery he had back in February of 2020. He has had many great years in the past, and at only 26 years of age, he should be due for a comeback year.

New additions include Jameson Taillon Corey Kluber. Taillon, who was recently acquired from the Pirates, has had multiple good seasons but still hasn't had that breakout year that should make him a top arm in the league.

Kluber has been acquired in free agency after a rough 2020 season where he only pitched one inning due to an injury. He has been a top pitcher in the league in the past, even winning two Cy Young awards in the past. If he can be the guy New York expects, this team should be the favorite to win it all in 2021.
