Breaking: Blue Jays sign George Springer

George Springer has been a heavy topic of the off season for the Blue Jays in free agency. Their day has come today as they have officially signed George Springer for 6 years, $150 million.

He will bring a veteran presence to a young developing line-up with a ton of potential. Springer will hopefully be the guy that can lead this young core to multiple playoff runs in the coming years.

Springer is not the only one moving over to the Jays as Kirby Yates has just signed with them to a 1 year, $5 million deal. Yates, who led the league in saves in 2019 (41) has had success in his career a few times but struggled in 2020.

With many teams in the American league east rebuilding, this is the perfect time for the Jays to start trying for a run in the playoffs. The Yankees are really the only competitors and the Rays have been shipping many key pieces to their success.

Acquiring these guys are the perfect moves for the Jays leading to future success. The rest of the league will have to make big moves to catch up with the Blue Jays in the next few years.
