With the many great farm systems we have in the MLB, we can make predictions based on what those farm systems look like. Honorable mentions include the Giants, Orioles, Diamondbacks, Mariners, and the Pirates.
Even though the Tigers have been one of the worst teams in history lately, that leads to good draft picks and lots of room to develop the farm system. The Tigers most recently got Spencer Torkelson out of the number one overall pick in the 2020 draft. Casey Mize currently leads these prospects, and he's one of the most anticipated players recently. We saw him come up in 2020, and he showed promising things. In just a few years, The Tigers have a very good front office that can help this team compete in the next 3-4 years.
4. White Sox
Following a heart-breaking loss to the Athletics in the playoffs, the Sox are going to show up in 2021. They have possibly the best farm system in the game, just one season after Robert came up and played exceptionally. The farm system consists of Andrew Vaughn, Michael Kopech, Nick Madrigal, and many other pieces that can be used to get solidified stars in return. If the young players on this team can play well, then the White Sox should be World Series contenders in a very short amount of time.
3. Blue Jays
Bo Bichette, Vlad Jr., Nate Pearson, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Teoscar Hernandez, and Cavan Biggio. That's all you need to know to see that the Blue Jays are an up and coming team not mentioning all the prospects that haven't made a debut yet. Just sneaking into the playoffs following a season where they performed very well, the Blue Jays have shown they come to play. That Lineup is no joke, and if they can add Springer and one more solid starter, this team could be just as nasty as the Padres in a few years. The depth this team has is not going to hurt them, and if they can perform as everybody expects them to in a few years, the Blue Jays will be the real deal.
The Miami Marlins have one of the best farm systems in baseball, featuring young flamethrower Sixto Sanchez who had a great 2021 season with a 3.46 ERA in 7 games. They have great talent within their system that many people underrate. Many didn't expect the Marlins to go that deep into the Postseason, nevertheless make the postseason, but that didn't surprise me at all. The Miami Marlins have a lot to prove, and I believe that they can in 2021.
It's no surprise that the Padres are on this list and for many reasons. One, the off season they have going is going to make this team even scarier going into the new season. Them acquiring Yu Darvish and Blake Snell on back-to-back nights was something we haven't seen in a while. Darvish is coming off of a Cy Young caliber season in which he had a 2.01 ERA. That's just crazy! Not only does the off season put this team on this list, but their farm system is possibly the best in baseball. They have some great prospects including Mackenzie Gore, who might debut in 2021, if not 2022. He can bring so much to the table in an already incredible rotation. The Padres might be the team to beat in a few years.
